Yoga Therapy is the application of yoga practices (movement, breathwork and meditation) for optimal health and well-being. Validated by the latest medical research, Yoga Therapy is one of the most effective complementary and integrative therapies for many common chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension and diabetes, asthma and arthritis, anxiety and depression), as well as special populations (e.g., aging, addiction, pregnancy and childbirth, chronic stress and trauma). –Niroga Institute
In 2015, I completed a rigorous two-year, accredited Yoga Therapy training offered through Niroga Institute, and accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. This training was over 1000 hours and focused on common chronic conditions and working with special populations.
I work individually or in small groups with clients at a fully equipped yoga studio, or in your home environment. In addition to our time together, I also craft a short, individualized home protocol so that you can practice between sessions. Consistent practice (dosage) is an important piece in using therapeutic yoga as a tool for healing.
Presenting problems that I have worked with so far have ranged from muscular-skeletal issues, physical trauma recovery, depression, anxiety, diabetes, neuropathy, asthma, and digestive complaints, to addressing symptoms of aging, neurological disorders, endocrine disorders, and cancer treatment. My work is trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive.
In our collaborative work together, I assist my clients to remember their wholeness despite their current situation, and to find ways to move their bodies to create space for physical and emotional well-being It is my belief that we “tend toward healing” if given the chance, and my Yoga Therapy training has given me specific tools and strategies to support each individual on their path in that direction.
Please contact me if you would like to schedule a complimentary phone conversation to discuss your concerns, and to see if Yoga Therapy can be of benefit to your health and wellness goals.
